first snow fall
We had our first snowfall of the year-about 20 cm. luckily I harvested my swiss chard the day before and we are eating it tonight. I have planted my garlic, tulips and hyacinths and covered them with chicken wire and leaves. I collected several species of seed-blue salvia, nasturtium, 4'o'clocks and balsum.

manure
I shovelled 2 loads of horse manure into my pick-up truck and spread them in the various gardens around my house. There were over 20 wheel barrow loads to spread. My garden will love it next spring.

fishing on the Ottawa River
I went fishing with Paul yesterday and we caught pickerel, pike, and bass. We kept the pickerel and had it for supper.I missed the elementart cross-country race yesterday and Jack was 20th out of over a hundred runners and Alec was FIRST and almost caught the pace-setting rabbit. I have very athletic grandchildren.

Bill's CITY CHASE
Bill and his partner Claire were screwed. They were eliminated by pure luck instead of experience, skill , endurance and strategy. They caught the least number of fish of the coast of Newfoundland in a fishing boat. After training and doing very well up to this activity it came down to LUCK! The CBC's attempt to produce an exciting show was a failure. Next year they should try drawing straws or rolling dice for the winner.

THE DAY AFTER
The day after the great debates! When I got tired of listening to the "other" 4 leaders pointing fingers at Harper, I flipped to the VP debate and found it much more civilized. Today we are going to prevote and then ignore all polls and negative reporting until election day. After that it is time to start "winterizing" my garden
