spring 09 gardening season

It is the middle of May and I am well ahead in my gardening. We have been eating asparagus and my garlic is up. I planted lettuce, radishes, parsnips and chard and most of them are up. I had a great display of tulips, daffodils anr hyacinths, but they are almot finished. My raised veg. beds are looking good and it takes little effort to dig them up. Everything is looking lush and green. I love spring!

first snow fall

We had our first snowfall of the year-about 20 cm. luckily I harvested my swiss chard the day before and we are eating it tonight. I have planted my garlic, tulips and hyacinths and covered them with chicken wire and leaves. I collected several species of seed-blue salvia, nasturtium, 4'o'clocks and balsum.

DUNROBIN SUNRISE

A beautiful sunrise in Dunrobin! Today I used my new leaf blower/shredder and dug in shredded leaves in all garden beds. It works very well

orienteering with Feist

Bill was asked to set up an orienteering contest by Feist as a birthday present for one of her group friends. They all loved the exercise and gave Bill family tickets for her concert in Calgary.

manure

I shovelled 2 loads of horse manure into my pick-up truck and spread them in the various gardens around my house. There were over 20 wheel barrow loads to spread. My garden will love it next spring.
